Deep Dive
🚀 DEX Trading Smashes New Record at $613.3 Billion in October
📊 News flash: In October, decentralized exchange (DEX) trading volume reached a new All-Time High of $613.3 billion.
DEX Trading Activity Gains Traction 📈
DeFiLlama data reported that DEX trading activity spiked significantly to $613.3 billion in October from $500 billion in September. Top exchanges like Uniswap (UNI) contributed $170.9 billion, a rise from $106.5 billion, and PancakeSwap (CAKE) jumped to $101.9 billion from $79 billion in September. The CEX and DEX trading ratio rose from 18% to 20% in October.
What accelerated the surge?
The rising popularity of DEX activities reflects a significant shift in crypto investments. Investors are choosing safer and more accessible avenues with low transaction costs like DEX platforms, rather than highly-regulated centralized exchanges. In October, U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding raising China tariffs created panic among investors, which triggered forced liquidations and surged DEX activities. Moreover, October marked an increased participation in airdrops and liquidity mining, which drove the trading volume.
